High-density WiFi 5 access point

The Ubiquiti Networks WiFi BaseStation XG is a tri-radio 802.11ac Wave 2 access point built for high-density environments such as large venues and auditoriums. It delivers 12 spatial streams across four 5 GHz 4x4 MU-MIMO radios, with three dedicated to client traffic and one reserved for persistent threat management. Aggregate throughput reaches 5.2 Gbps while supporting 1,500+ concurrent clients over 465+ m² of open space.

PoE++ power and uplink planning

The unit ships with a Gigabit PoE++ adapter rated at 50V DC, 1.2A, so no separate power supply is required. Uplink connectivity uses one GbE RJ45 port and one 1/10 GbE ICM Ethernet port; verify that your switch or router provides a compatible 10 GbE interface if you intend to use the higher-speed uplink. Operating temperature spans -40 to 70° C and humidity 5 to 95% noncondensing for outdoor or industrial deployments.

Rugged chassis with versatile mounting

The enclosure measures 471.1 x 257.5 x 94.3 mm and weighs 3.2 kg, rated for wall or pole mounting in exposed locations. A selectable beamforming antenna array focuses energy toward connected devices, improving signal quality at range. Management is handled through the UniFi Network web application or mobile app, enabling VLAN 802.1Q, advanced QoS, per-user rate limiting and guest traffic isolation from a single pane.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need to buy a PoE injector separately?

The access point ships with a Gigabit PoE++ adapter rated at 50 V DC, 1.2 A, so no separate injector is required.

Should I choose the GbE RJ45 uplink or the 10 GbE ICM Ethernet uplink for my backbone?

Use the 10 GbE ICM port when your core switch supports 10 GbE and you need the full 5.2 Gbps aggregate throughput; otherwise the GbE RJ45 port works for standard gigabit links.

What does the 5.2 Gbps aggregate throughput mean for real-world client speeds?

It is the combined maximum PHY rate across all four 5 GHz 4x4 MU-MIMO radios; individual clients will see lower speeds depending on channel width, spatial streams and interference.
