Wired Gigabit Adapter for USB 3.0 Ports

The UGREEN RTL8156BG adds a 1000 Mbps RJ45 port to any host with a USB 3.0 Type-A socket. It targets laptop owners, Nintendo Switch players and mini-PC users who need a more reliable link than Wi-Fi provides.

Sustained 1000 Mbps Throughput Over USB 3.0

The RTL8156BG controller negotiates Gigabit speeds across the USB 3.0 bus, keeping throughput steady during long gaming sessions, large file transfers or 4K streaming. Driver-free operation on Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, macOS and Chrome OS avoids software overhead that can throttle extended loads.

Aluminium Shell and Braided Cable for Daily Carry

A grey and black aluminium housing resists fingerprints and corrosion while dissipating heat from the controller. The reinforced braided cable withstands repeated bending and bag storage, so the adapter survives frequent plugging on desks, docks or travel setups without port strain.

Questions about this item

Does the RTL8156BG chip run hot or draw much power during all-day transfers?

The aluminium shell acts as a passive heatsink, so the adapter stays cool during continuous gigabit traffic without a fan.

Which USB-A port standard must my laptop already have to reach 1000 Mbps?

A USB 3.0 port is required; USB 2.0 will limit the link to 100 Mbps.

Will this adapter work on a Windows 8.1 machine I still use?

Yes, the RTL8156BG is driver-free on Windows 8.1, 10 and 11.
