Connects USB 3.2 ports to 5Gbps Ethernet using Realtek RTL8157, supporting 2.5Gbps and 1Gbps fallback speeds
The ULANSeN UC57 adds a 5 Gbps RJ45 port to laptops, desktops and workstations through a single USB 3.2 connection. It targets users who need wired throughput beyond 1 Gbps for large file transfers, video conferencing or media streaming. The adapter uses the Realtek RTL8157 controller and supports Windows 10, Windows 11, Linux and macOS 10.7 or later.
The RTL8157 chipset integrates advanced power management so the adapter draws minimal current and produces no audible noise during normal operation. No fan or active cooling is required; the lightweight aluminium housing dissipates heat passively. Performance scales with the host port: USB 3.2 Gen 2 delivers full 5 Gbps, while USB 3.0 or 2.0 limits throughput to their respective maximums.
A removable 2-in-1 plug lets you insert the adapter into either a USB-A or USB-C socket without a separate dongle. The package includes the adapter only; a CAT6A or higher Ethernet cable and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 host port are needed to reach 5 Gbps. Driver installation is required on Windows and Linux; macOS 10.7+ supports the device natively.

Plug the USB 3.2 connector into a USB 3.2 or higher port on the host; using a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port caps the link at lower rates and prevents the advertised 5000 Mbps throughput.
No scheduled maintenance is required; keep the driver updated for Windows 11, Linux or macOS 10.7 and later, and replace the CAT6A or higher cable only if it becomes damaged.
The 5000 Mbps ceiling of the RTL8157 chipset and the USB 3.2 Gen2 interface is the first hard bound; thermal throttling may engage after prolonged maximum load.
