Portable speaker with 360-degree sound

The Ultimate Ears Boom 3 is a compact Bluetooth speaker that delivers 360-degree audio from dual 2-inch drivers and passive radiators. It is built for listeners who want balanced sound in a rugged, waterproof enclosure. The IP67 rating means it can be submerged in one metre of water for 30 minutes and floats when dropped in a pool or lake. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 15 hours of playback between Micro-USB charges.

Ideal for outdoor gatherings and multi-room setups

This speaker suits people who move music between indoor and outdoor spaces and want simple one-touch controls for playlists on services such as Spotify or Apple Music. The PartyUp feature lets you link over 150 compatible Boom and Megaboom units for larger events. Buyers who need a built-in voice assistant, USB-C charging or a stereo pair limited to two units should consider other options.

IP67 waterproof rating for full submersion

The single specification that decides fit is the IP67 certification, which guarantees dust-tight protection and survival under one metre of water for 30 minutes. If your use case involves frequent immersion — pool sides, beach trips, shower mounting — this rating is the threshold requirement. Without it, a speaker marketed as merely splash-resistant will not survive the same conditions.

Questions about this item

How hot does the speaker get or how much power does it draw when playing continuously for a full 15-hour charge?

The rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivers up to 15 hours of playback on a single charge; no surface-temperature or power-draw figures are published for continuous use.

Which source devices and Bluetooth profiles must I already own to stream audio and take calls?

Any smartphone, tablet or other device that supports Bluetooth with the A2DP profile for music and the Hands-Free Profile for calls will work; the speaker can remember up to eight paired devices and connect two simultaneously.

Can I pair this BOOM 3 with my older BOOM 2 and first-generation MEGABOOM for a multi-speaker setup?

Yes — the PARTYUP feature in the BOOM & MEGABOOM app lets you link this BOOM 3 with previous-generation BOOM, BOOM 2 and MEGABOOM speakers as well as other BOOM 3 and MEGABOOM 3 units.
