What this speaker does

The Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 2 is a compact Bluetooth speaker built for portable listening. It delivers 360-degree sound with balanced bass from two 40 mm active drivers and two passive radiators. The IP67 rating makes it waterproof, dustproof and able to float. Battery life reaches up to 13 hours per charge.

Outdoor Boost mode

A single button activates Outdoor Boost, raising the maximum sound level from 86 dBC to 87 dBC and tuning the output for open spaces. This is the specification that decides whether the speaker is loud enough for your backyard or campsite. Without the boost the standard mode suits indoor rooms and quiet settings.

Heat noise and power

The sealed enclosure has no moving parts other than the drivers and radiators, so it runs silently with no fan noise. The lithium-ion battery recharges in 2.6 hours using a micro-USB connection and a BC1.2 compliant adapter. Normal playback draws very little power and the speaker stays cool to the touch.

Questions about this item

How loud does 86 dBC actually sound in a typical room?

At 86 dBC in standard mode the speaker reaches a level comparable to busy restaurant noise, filling a medium-sized room with clear 360-degree sound from its two 40 mm active drivers and passive radiators.

What does the micro-USB port and A2DP profile limit for charging and streaming?

The micro-USB port charges the battery in 2.6 hours with a BC1.2 compliant adapter, while the A2DP Bluetooth profile streams stereo audio up to 30 metres without higher-bitrate codecs.

Will the 4.09 by 3.75 inch cylinder fit in a standard cup holder or bike cage?

At 4.09 inches tall and 3.75 inches in diameter the speaker matches many car cup holders and larger bottle cages, and its IP67 rating means it survives splashes or dust while mounted.
