What this drive is and who it fits

The UMEMORY PEM100 PRO is a 128GB portable SSD in an orange aluminium shell measuring 33 by 20 by 20mm and weighing 200g. It connects via a Type-C plug and uses TLC flash. The drive targets smartphone users, laptop owners and anyone who wants pocket-sized, fingerprint-locked storage that works across iOS, Android, macOS and Windows without drivers.

Practical limits of the Type-C interface

Sequential read tops out at 458MB/s and write at 209MB/s, so large video transfers finish in seconds rather than minutes, but sustained workloads will hit the bus ceiling. The drive is rated for splash resistance and operates from -25°C to 80°C, yet it has no active cooling, so prolonged heavy writes may throttle. The fingerprint sensor adds a convenient unlock step but does not change the underlying transfer ceiling.

The spec that decides fit

Capacity is fixed at 128GB and cannot be expanded; if your media library or project archives exceed that, this model will not hold them. The biometric lock supports multiple fingerprints for shared access, yet it replaces rather than supplements password software. Buyers who need terabyte-scale space or hardware encryption certified to a specific standard should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Is 128GB enough capacity for phone backups and large files?

The 128GB capacity stores thousands of photos, hours of 4K video and large document libraries, making it suitable for regular smartphone backups and portable project files.

Will I see the full 450MB/s read speed when connected to my laptop?

The drive reaches up to 458MB/s sequential read and 209MB/s write over its Type-C link; actual throughput depends on the host port speed, file sizes and thermal conditions.

Does the Type-C port limit speed to USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 levels?

The Type-C interface supports the quoted 450MB/s read performance; the practical ceiling is set by the host controller and cable quality rather than the connector itself.
