  • Operates from -25 °C to 70 °C for year-round use
  • Installs in minutes with basic hand tools and no special equipment

Universal Lift Support

The Unique-Bargains gas strut is a 16-inch metal lift support rated at 44 lbs force per unit. It suits automotive lids, RV compartments, camper windows and cabinet doors where a single strut must hold the panel open. The black finish and 8 mm mounting holes fit many existing brackets without modification.

44 lbs Force Rating

Each strut delivers 196 N of pressure, enough to hold 44 lbs individually. If the panel exceeds this weight the strut will not keep it open; a second strut or a higher-force model would be required. The working temperature range spans -25 °C to 70 °C for year-round reliability.

Adjustable Soft-Close

The built-in speed adjustment lets installers set the closing rate to match the specific lid or door. Supplied as a single unit with 6 mm rod and 15 mm housing diameters, it installs with basic hand tools in minutes. Remember not to compress the strut by hand before mounting.

Questions about this item

How much weight will the 196 N force actually hold on a hatch?

Each strut supports 44 lbs or about 20 kg, so a single unit can hold a lid of that weight in the open position.

What does the 8 mm mounting hole limit in practice?

The 8 mm hole diameter means you need bolts or ball studs with an 8 mm shank; the 15 mm housing and 6 mm rod fit through the same opening.

What clearance is needed for the 16 inch extended length?

The strut measures 40 cm centre-to-centre when fully extended and 23.5 cm compressed, so allow at least 16 inches of travel space.
