Black PVC heat-shrink tubing shrinks at 80 °C with a 48 % rate to insulate large battery packs and tool handles
This black PVC heat-shrink tube arrives as a flat 210 mm width with a 133 mm inner diameter and a 1 m length. It is sized to slide over large cylindrical cells such as 18650, 21700, 26650, 20700 and 18500 packs before shrinking. The material is rated for 300 V and an operating range of -40 °C to +105 °C.
Shrinkage begins at 80 °C and achieves a 48 ± 5 % reduction in diameter, sealing tightly around the pack. The low activation temperature speeds up the wrapping process while the PVC provides electrical insulation, corrosion resistance and dust protection once cooled. No special tools are required beyond a standard heat source.
A single 1 m piece covers multiple cells in series or parallel configurations, reducing the number of joints in a custom pack. The flat profile stores compactly on a workbench and the black finish gives a uniform appearance. It is not suited for packs whose unshrunk diameter exceeds 133 mm or for applications requiring a shrink ratio outside the stated range.

Slide the 1 m length over the pack, then apply heat evenly until the tube shrinks at 80 °C; the step many miss is heating all sides uniformly so the 48 ± 5 % shrink rate is reached without cold spots.
The material is rated from -40 °C to +105 °C; inspect periodically for cracks or discoloration and replace the wrap if the insulation appears damaged or the battery pack is reworked.
The PVC’s upper temperature rating of +105 °C is the first limit; sustained operation above this point degrades the insulation before the 300 V voltage rating becomes a concern.
