Carbon brushes for electric motor repair

This pack contains five pairs of carbon motor brushes measuring 15mm by 8mm by 5mm. They are designed as generic replacements for electric motors found in power tools such as drills and air compressors. The set weighs 78g and comes in black.

Restoring motor function and braking

Worn brushes are a common cause of intermittent running or lost electric braking in universal motors. Fitting new brushes can return the tool to reliable operation when the commutator is still serviceable. The replacement is worthwhile when the motor shows sparking, power loss or braking failure.

Suitable for DIY tool maintenance

These generic brushes suit owners servicing drills, compressors or similar motors that accept the stated dimensions. They are not for brushless motors, sealed units without brush access or applications requiring a different brush grade or spring tension.

Questions about this item

Will these 15mm carbon brushes fit my motor's brush holders?

Each brush measures approximately 15 x 8 x 5 mm. Compare those dimensions with your motor's brush holder specifications before ordering.

How do I install the brushes correctly, and what is the common mistake?

Remove the old brushes, note the orientation of the curved face, and seat the new pair identically. The frequent error is inserting them reversed, which prevents proper contact with the commutator.

When will I need to replace these carbon brushes again?

Brush life depends on motor load and run time. Inspect them when you notice reduced power, sparking, or loss of electric braking, and replace once the carbon wears down to the holder limit.
