Extension cable for RP-SMA antennas

This pair of twelve-inch RG174 cables connects RP-SMA male to RP-SMA female ports with a fifty-ohm impedance. The low-loss construction and point-one-one inch diameter suit wireless LAN and WiFi router adapters with removable antennas. Two pieces are included so both sides of a link can be repositioned.

Builders who need flexible antenna placement

Users wanting to move a removable antenna away from a router or access point for better reception will find the short length useful. Installations requiring longer runs, different connector types or bulk cable should look elsewhere because only twelve-inch pre-terminated pairs are supplied.

RP-SMA male-to-female gender and twelve-inch length

The connector combination and fixed cable length are the decisive factors — verify that both devices present RP-SMA ports and that a twelve-inch reach satisfies the mounting geometry before purchasing.

Questions about this item

What connector type and cable length do I need for this RP-SMA extension to reach my router?

Each cable has an RP-SMA male plug on one end and an RP-SMA female jack on the other, with a 12 inch RG174 run between them.

Which side screws onto the router and which side takes the antenna, and how tight should they be?

The RP-SMA male end threads onto the router's RP-SMA female port; the antenna then screws onto the cable's RP-SMA female end. Finger-tight is sufficient — do not use tools.

When should I replace these 50 ohm RG174 cables if the signal drops?

Replace them if the connectors become loose, the 0.11 inch jacket shows kinks or cracks, or corrosion appears on the gold-plated contacts.
