The head accepts swipe speeds from 5 to 30 inches per second without misreads. Recording density is fixed at 210 bpi for tracks one and three and 75 or 210 bpi for track two. Power draw stays at a typical 350 mA and rises to 600 mA per active write track, so the external 24 VDC supply handles sustained batches without voltage sag. No internal battery or bus-powered mode exists.

Compact desktop build

The white housing measures 2.38 by 2.58 by 8.34 inches and weighs 3.4 units, so it sits on a counter without sliding. Card thickness range is 0.76 to 1.2 mm, covering standard credit and loyalty cards. Dual USB and RS232 ports let you choose the cable once and keep the other free.
