Universal QLE2662 QLogic SANblade HBA

The Universal QLE2662 QLogic SANblade is a 16GB Fibre Channel host bus adapter designed for server environments. It provides dual-port connectivity over a PCI Express interface. This new accessory targets administrators expanding storage area network infrastructure.

PCI Express host bus adapter limits

A PCI Express host bus adapter depends on available lane width and generation supported by the server motherboard. Bandwidth scales with the slot configuration installed in the chassis. The card requires a compatible physical slot and firmware support from the system BIOS.

Dual-port 16GB Fibre Channel decides fit

The defining specification is the dual-port 16GB Fibre Channel interface. Buyers needing single-port connectivity or a different transport protocol cannot use this adapter. Servers lacking Fibre Channel switching infrastructure will not benefit from this card.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 16 GB dual-port model or a single-port version for my SAN?

This card provides two 16 GB Fibre Channel ports on one PCIe bracket, giving you redundant paths to the fabric without using an extra slot.

What does the 16 GB Fibre Channel rating deliver in a live server?

Each port runs at up to 16 Gbit/s, so large backup jobs and database logs move at near line rate across the SAN fabric.

Which PCIe generation does the QLE2662 use and what bandwidth ceiling does that impose?

The adapter plugs into a standard PCIe slot and its dual 16 Gbit/s ports operate within the lane budget of that interface.
