Universal Recon 50 Headset

The Universal Recon 50 is a lightweight circumaural headset built around 40mm drivers and a single 3.5mm audio connection. It targets console and PC gamers who want clear stereo sound and a detachable microphone for chat.

Plug-and-play setup with in-line controls

Connect the 3.5mm plug to any compatible controller or device jack and audio works immediately. The in-line module puts master volume and mic mute at your fingertips. The only common issue is forgetting to unmute the microphone after a break.

3.5mm jack limits multi-device use

The analogue 3.5mm interface carries stereo audio and a mono microphone channel but cannot deliver powered surround processing or separate chat and game volume streams without host-side support. Buyers who want wireless freedom or USB digital audio with independent channel mixing need a different connection type.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 40mm drivers are delivering the full 20Hz frequency response after setup?

Play a frequency sweep test track and listen for clean output down to the lowest tones without distortion; the in-line volume control should adjust level smoothly across the range.

What comes in the box with the Recon 50 and what must I provide separately?

The headset includes the 40mm circumaural earcups, detachable high-sensitivity microphone and 3.5mm cable with in-line volume and mute controls; you only need a device with a 3.5mm jack.

Which version of the Recon 50 should I choose for my Xbox Series X, PS5 and PC?

The single 3.5mm model works across all three platforms — plug directly into the Xbox or PS5 controller or a PC headset port for stereo and Windows Sonic surround sound.
