  • SL16 female connector fits SL16 male coaxial cable for secure connection

7 dBi Yagi antenna for UHF radios

This directional antenna covers the 400 to 470 MHz band with 7 dBi gain at 430 MHz. It handles up to 100 W of transmit power and presents a 50 ohm impedance with VSWR below 1.5. The SL16 female connector mates with standard SL16 male coaxial cables for mobile or base-station use.

Capacity and headroom

The 7 dBi gain extends reliable communication range in line-of-sight conditions while the 100 W rating provides headroom for most mobile and fixed UHF transceivers. Performance drops outside the 400 to 470 MHz window and the single-polarity design does not support diversity or MIMO schemes.

SL16 female connector fit

The antenna terminates in an SL16 female jack that requires a matching SL16 male plug on the feed line. Installers without that exact connector type must source an adapter or different cable assembly before the antenna can be connected.

Questions about this item

Will the 400-470MHz range and SL16 Female connector on this Yagi antenna match my existing UHF mobile radio?

The antenna covers UHF 400-470MHz with a 7dBi gain at 430MHz, handles up to 100W, presents a 50 impedance and a VSWR below 1.5, and terminates in an SL16 Female connector that mates with an SL16 male coaxial cable.

How can I verify the 7dBi gain and low VSWR are performing correctly once the antenna is mounted?

After assembly, orient the 38cm longest element perpendicular to the ground, secure the boom to a mast between 30mm and 40mm diameter, then use an SWR meter or antenna analyser at 430MHz to confirm VSWR remains under 1.5 and forward power reaches the expected level.

What hardware is included in the package and what must I supply myself?

The box contains the Yagi antenna (43cm boom, 0.3kg aluminium alloy construction), product specifications and installation instructions; you must provide an SL16 male coaxial cable and a mounting mast of 30-40mm diameter.
