Over-Head Headset with Boom Mic

This over-head earpiece headset includes a boom microphone and VOX switch for hands-free operation. It connects via a 2-pin plug with 3.5 mm and 2.5 mm pin diameters at an 11 mm centre spacing. The headset is designed for two-way radio users who need a head-worn solution with voice-activated transmission.

Replaces Handheld Microphones

The headset upgrades from a standard handheld speaker-microphone by freeing both hands during communication. The jump is worth it for operators who work on vehicles, vessels or job sites where holding a radio is impractical. Voice-activated switching removes the need to reach for a push-to-talk button during frequent transmissions.

2-Pin Connector Limits

The 2-pin interface with 11 mm spacing only fits radios wired to that exact pinout and diameter combination. Radios using single-pin, multi-pin or different centre-to-centre measurements will not accept the plug. Compatibility must be verified against the radio's accessory port before use.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.5 mm and 2.5 mm dual pins with 11 mm centre spacing fit my radio's accessory jack?

The headset uses a two-pin plug with a 3.5 mm first pin, a 2.5 mm second pin and an 11 mm centre-to-centre distance, matching the Kenwood-style jack found on the listed Baofeng, Retevis and Wouxun models.

How do I enable the VOX hands-free function on this headset?

Slide the inline switch to the VOX position, then adjust your radio's VOX sensitivity menu until the boom mic triggers transmission reliably without picking up background noise.

Which parts of this headset are likely to need replacement first?

The foam ear cushion and the flexible boom microphone tube are the main wear items; both can be swapped out when they lose comfort or voice clarity.
