usbroway TW-16A Duplexer Overview

The usbroway TW-16A is a passive duplexer that separates VHF and UHF signals for two-way radio installations. It presents a single SO-239 port for the antenna and two PL-259 tails for the radio. The unit covers VHF from 1.3 to 170 MHz and UHF from 350 to 540 MHz with a 50 Ohm impedance throughout.

Ideal for Single-Antenna Dual-Band Rigs

Operators running one dual-band transceiver and wanting a single antenna will find this duplexer a direct fit. Installations that require separate antennas for each band, or systems operating outside the stated VHF and UHF ranges, should look at alternative filtering solutions.

Verify Connector Gender and Frequency Limits

Confirm that your radio presents PL-259 plugs and your antenna terminates in an SO-239 jack before ordering. Ensure your operating frequencies fall inside the 1.3–170 MHz VHF window and the 350–540 MHz UHF window, as the duplexer provides no isolation beyond those limits.

Questions about this item

Do I need a radio with separate VHF and UHF PL-259 ports to use this duplexer?

Yes, the unit expects one PL-259 feed for VHF 1.3-170 MHz and a second PL-259 feed for UHF 350-540 MHz, plus a single SO-239 antenna port.

Will my existing 50 Ohm coaxial cables work with the SO-239 and PL-259 connectors on this duplexer?

The duplexer presents 50 Ohm impedance on all three ports, so standard 50 Ohm coax fitted with PL-259 or SO-239 plugs will match correctly.

How can I confirm the duplexer is routing VHF and UHF signals to the shared antenna after installation?

Transmit on a VHF frequency and verify RF appears at the SO-239 port, then repeat on a UHF frequency; both bands should reach the antenna without retuning.
