Compatible Battery for Yaesu Handhelds

This 9.6V 2000mAh Ni-MH pack replaces the original FNB-72, FNB-72x, FNB-72xe, FNB-72xh, FNB-72xx, FNB-85 and NC-72B cells. It fits the FT-817 and FT-817ND portable transceivers. The replacement restores factory runtime for field operations.

Steady Output During Long Nets

Ni-MH chemistry delivers a stable voltage curve across extended transmit cycles. The 2000mAh capacity supports lengthy receive periods and regular PTT use without the sharp drop-off seen in lower-capacity packs. Performance stays consistent through the duty cycle.

Direct Swap for Ageing Originals

This pack replaces depleted OEM batteries that no longer hold a full charge. The upgrade is worth it when your existing cell cuts out mid-contact or requires daily recharging. It is not for radios that use a different voltage or connector type.

Questions about this item

Does the 9.6 V Ni-Mh pack run warm during long transmit sessions?

Normal operation stays cool; the chemistry handles extended key-down periods without noticeable heat build-up.

Which radio models accept this 2000 mAh battery directly?

It fits Yaesu FT-817 and FT-817ND transceivers that originally used FNB-72, FNB-72x, FNB-72xe, FNB-72xh, FNB-72xx, FNB-85 or NC-72B packs.

Will the 9.6 V pack charge correctly in my existing Yaesu desktop charger?

Yes — the voltage and connector match the original FNB-72 series, so the standard Yaesu charger works without modification.
