Chamberlain 7708 Rail Extension Kit

This Chamberlain 7708 rail extension kit is designed for Chamberlain chain-drive garage door openers that serve 8-foot-high doors. It supplies the longer rail and replacement chain needed for proper door travel. The kit targets homeowners and installers who are fitting or servicing a Chamberlain chain-drive unit on a standard 8-ft door.

Check compatibility before ordering

Verify that the existing opener is a Chamberlain chain-drive model and that the door height is exactly 8 ft. Measure the door's backset, cross bore and thickness to confirm the rail geometry matches the opener. The kit includes all hardware and an instruction manual, so no extra parts are required for the installation.

Replaces the standard short rail

The extension rail and chain replace the shorter rail assembly that comes with the opener for 7-ft doors. Upgrading is necessary whenever an 8-ft door is installed on a Chamberlain chain-drive unit that originally shipped with the 7-ft rail. The jump is worth it when the door height exceeds the factory rail length and reliable everyday operation is required.
