Purpose-built paging microphone

The Valcom V-450 is a dynamic gooseneck microphone designed for telephone paging systems. Its 19 inch flexible neck and included mounting flange allow precise positioning on desks or walls. The unit ships with a 4 ft cable and requires the separate V-9939A adapter for connection.

Upgrade from fixed or handheld mics

This model replaces rigid desk microphones or handheld units that limit movement and positioning. The low-impedance 600 ohm output and 50 Hz to 12 kHz response suit voice paging clearly. The jump is worth it when installers need adjustable reach and a dedicated push-to-talk switch for momentary activation.

Suits installers building Valcom paging systems

Technicians configuring page zones with compatible Valcom hardware will find the flange mount and wiring straightforward. Buyers who need a standalone USB or XLR microphone for recording or conferencing should look elsewhere, as this unit depends on the proprietary adapter and telephone-system architecture.

Questions about this item

What flange size and gooseneck length must the desk cut-out accommodate?

The microphone has a 1.75 in. diameter flange and a 19 in. gooseneck, so the mounting hole must accept a 1.75 in. flange and allow 23.5 in. overall length.

Which adapter is required before the 4 ft cable can connect to the telephone system?

A Valcom V-9939A microphone adapter must be installed between the 600 ohm low-impedance output and the telephone line; the push-to-talk switch will not function without it.

How often should the dynamic capsule be checked or replaced in daily paging use?

The moving-coil capsule is rated for continuous 50 Hz to 12 kHz operation and typically lasts years; inspect the grille and cable strain relief annually and replace only if output drops or noise appears.
