10 x 12 ft Standard-Duty Tarp

This polyethylene tarp measures 10 by 12 feet cut size and finishes at 9 ft 6 in by 11 ft 4 in. It is built for general-purpose covering and protection on job sites, farms or around the home. The blue colour provides basic visibility without high-visibility certification. Buyers needing insulated or breathable material should look elsewhere.

Heat-Sealed Seams and Aluminium Grommets

Seams are heat sealed for waterproof performance and the edges are rope reinforced for tear resistance. Aluminium grommets are spaced every 24 inches along the perimeter for secure tie-down. The fabric weighs 2.2 oz per square yard and resists mildew and water under standard-duty conditions. This tarp is not designed for high-wind structural loads.

3.2 mil Thickness Defines Durability

At 3.2 mil thick, the sheet balances flexibility with puncture resistance for temporary shelter, equipment covers or ground protection. Thinner tarps tear faster; heavier grades add weight and stiffness that may not be needed. Choose this thickness when the job calls for standard-duty polyethylene rather than heavy-duty or insulated alternatives.

Questions about this item

How do I secure the tarp using the aluminum grommets spaced 24 in apart?

Thread rope or bungee cords through each aluminum grommet along the 24 in spacing; pull tension evenly across the 10 x 12 ft cut size so the heat-sealed seams and rope-reinforced edges share the load without tearing the 3.2 mil polyethylene.

When will the 3.2 mil polyethylene need replacement under normal outdoor exposure?

The standard-duty 2.2 oz/sq yd fabric resists mildew and tears, but prolonged UV exposure will eventually embrittle the material; plan to replace it once the blue surface shows widespread cracking or the heat-sealed seams begin to separate.

What is the first performance limit reached during sustained wind and rain?

The 24 in grommet spacing on the 9 ft 6 in by 11 ft 4 in finished size is the limiting factor; high wind loads concentrate stress on individual grommets, risking pull-through before the waterproof polyethylene or tear-resistant weave fails.
