10Gb PCIe X8 Network Adapter

This add-on card uses the Intel X540-BT2 controller to provide two RJ45 ports that operate at 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps over twisted-pair copper. It fits a PCI Express 2.1 x8 slot and is also compatible with x16 slots. The board supports IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet and standard VLAN tagging. It is intended for servers or workstations that need a cost-effective 10 GbE uplink.

Suits Windows Server, Linux and VMware hosts

The driver stack covers Windows 7 through Server 2019, major Linux distributions including RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian, plus VMware ESXi 6 and 7. It also supports FreeBSD and SLES. Buyers who need Fibre Channel, InfiniBand or SFP+ optical interfaces will not be served by this copper-only design. Systems limited to PCIe x1 or x4 electrical width cannot use the full x8 bandwidth.

Jumbo frames, iSCSI boot and PXE are supported. This copper 10 GbE connectivity is the single specification that determines whether the card matches the network infrastructure.
