Swivel Plate Caster 4 in 275 lb

This Zoro Select swivel plate caster is built for light-duty material-handling carts and wheeled equipment that need smooth, non-marking mobility. It suits maintenance teams, workshop trolleys and light industrial dollies where a single 4-inch polyurethane wheel provides quiet rolling on finished floors. Buyers who need a heavier load rating or a larger wheel diameter for rough surfaces will need a different caster.

Thermals noise and power draw

The polyurethane tread on a polyolefin core runs without motors, bearings or electrical draw, so it adds no heat or audible noise to the equipment it supports. Rolling resistance stays low on smooth concrete or epoxy coatings, keeping push effort minimal during normal use. No power supply, cooling or lubrication schedule is required for this passive component.

Side brake and NSF listing

A side brake locks the wheel quickly to hold carts in place on slight inclines or during loading. The caster carries an NSF listing, confirming it meets sanitation standards for food-service and healthcare environments. California Proposition 65 notices apply because the materials contain chemicals identified by the state as causing cancer and reproductive harm.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the plate caster and what is the common alignment mistake?

Bolt the top plate through its four holes using the correct hardware for your frame, then double-check that the swivel rotates freely without binding — a crooked mount is the step most people get wrong.

Which part of the 4 in polyurethane wheel will wear out first and need replacement?

The polyurethane tread on the polyolefin core is the wear surface; under normal loads it will flatten or chunk before the core or swivel race requires service.

At what load does the side brake stop holding reliably during sustained use?

The side brake is rated to hold the full 275 lb capacity, so the limit that appears first under continuous duty is the 275 lb load rating itself.
