General-purpose thread-sealing tape, 15 ft long and 3/4 in wide, withstands -400 to 600 °F and 3,000 psi for liquid or gas joints up to 1 1/2 in diameter
This Value Brand gasket-making tape is a white joint sealant supplied on a 15 ft roll with a 3/4 in width. It handles general-purpose thread sealing across a wide temperature range from -400 Degrees F to 600 Degrees F. The tape withstands liquid and gas pressures up to 3,000 psi and suits threads up to 1 1/2 in diameter.
Switching to this tape removes the cure time and mess associated with liquid compounds or pre-cut gaskets. The jump is worth it when you need an immediate, pressure-tested seal on pipe threads or flanges without waiting for anaerobic adhesives to set. Its density range of 1.2 to 1.5 g/cc ensures consistent fill on irregular surfaces.
Electricians and pipefitters who need a fast, high-temperature thread sealant for systems up to 1 1/2 in will find this roll convenient. It is not for installers who require a pre-formed gasket with bolt-hole alignment or buyers who need a sealant rated beyond 600 Degrees F. The tape also does not suit applications requiring an adhesive-backed strip.

The tape is rated for threads up to 1 1/2 inches in diameter, so it covers most common pipe and fitting sizes in general-purpose sealing jobs.
Wrap the tape clockwise onto clean male threads with slight tension, overlapping each turn by half the width; the common mistake is wrapping counter-clockwise so the tape unravels when the fitting is tightened.
Replace it whenever the joint is broken for service or if the tape shows flattening, hardening or discoloration after exposure to temperatures near the 600 °F upper limit.
