Product identity

This Value Brand malleable iron union is a Class 150 threaded pipe fitting sized at 2 inches by 2 inches. It connects two female-threaded pipe ends in plumbing systems that require a removable joint.

Suitability

The fitting suits installers who need a union rated for Class 150 service with 2-inch female threads on both sides. It does not suit jobs that require a different pressure class, a smaller or larger nominal size, or a male-threaded connection.

Deciding specification

The critical specification is the Class 150 pressure rating combined with the 2-inch female threaded ends. Verify that your piping system matches this pressure class and thread configuration before purchase.

Questions about this item

What thread size does the 2 in malleable iron union require?

Each end uses a 2 in female threaded connection with 11 1/2 threads per inch for a Class 150 pressure rating.

How do you install the union without damaging the threads?

Apply pipe thread sealant to the male threads, hand tighten both halves, then use two wrenches to tighten the central nut while holding the body to avoid cross threading.

When should the union gasket be replaced?

Replace the internal gasket if you see seepage at the joint, after disassembly for pipe work, or during scheduled system maintenance to maintain a leak free seal.
