Standard-duty 20 x 20 ft mesh tarp

This polyethylene tarp measures 20 by 20 feet with a 10 mil thickness. Brass grommets are spaced every 24 inches along single-stitched seams. The fabric weighs 5.8 ounces per square yard and resists mildew, tearing and UV exposure.

Web-reinforced edges and brass grommets

Web reinforcement strengthens the perimeter against wind stress. Brass grommets provide corrosion-resistant tie-down points at 24-inch intervals. The single-stitched seam finish keeps the reinforced edge intact during repeated fastening and unfastening.

Breathable mesh limits water protection

The open mesh construction allows air flow but offers no water resistance or waterproofing. Rain and snow pass through the material, so covered items will get wet. Buyers needing a dry shelter should choose a solid poly tarp instead.

Questions about this item

Will the brass grommets need replacing after prolonged outdoor exposure?

Brass grommets resist corrosion, but salt air or constant tension can fatigue the metal; inspect them each season and replace any that show elongation or green patina.

What fails first on a 20 x 20 ft standard-duty tarp under continuous wind load?

The single-stitched seams and 5.8 oz/sq yd fabric reach their tear limit before the 10 mil polyethylene sheet itself, especially at grommet points spaced 24 in apart.

How much heat builds up under the black polyethylene when it sits in full sun all day?

Black 10 mil polyethylene absorbs most solar radiation; surface temperatures can exceed ambient by 20 °C or more, so avoid covering heat-sensitive materials directly.
