Rigid Plate Caster for Heavy Loads

This rigid plate caster uses a cast-iron wheel rated at 1200 lb and measures 5 inches in diameter with a 2-inch tread width. It is built for wheelbarrows, carts and similar equipment that need a fixed-direction wheel. The non-marking iron tread protects finished floors while the iron core resists deformation under full load.

Load Rating and Fixed Direction

The 1200 lb capacity is the practical limit for this caster; exceeding it risks wheel failure or mounting damage. Because the rig is rigid, the wheel cannot swivel, so the equipment must be steered by other means. No brake or swivel lock is included, so the caster relies entirely on the frame design for control and stability.

Simple Bolt-On Installation

The plate mounts with four bolts to a flat, structurally sound surface on the cart or wheelbarrow frame. Alignment is critical — if the plate is not square the wheel will track sideways and wear unevenly. The most common issue is loosening bolts under vibration, so periodic re-torquing is recommended. California Proposition 65 warnings apply to this product.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 5 in wheel with a 1200 lb rating or a different size for my cart?

The 5 in wheel diameter and 1200 lb load rating suit heavy carts needing a low profile; match the mounting plate pattern and bolt spacing to your frame before ordering.

What does the 1200 lb load rating mean once the caster is bolted to a loaded cart?

It is the maximum weight one caster can carry; distribute the total load across all casters so none exceeds 1200 lb, and remember the iron wheel will not cushion impacts on rough floors.

How does the rigid plate mounting affect steering and alignment compared to a swivel caster?

A rigid plate caster rolls straight only, so pair it with swivel casters for steering; the fixed orientation keeps the wheel aligned under heavy 1200 lb loads without sideways drift.
