A 5-inch polyurethane swivel plate caster with side brake rated for 300 lb
This 5-inch swivel plate caster uses a polyurethane tread on a polyolefin core and carries a 300 lb load rating. It is built for carts, work platforms and light material-handling equipment that need smooth, non-marking mobility. A side brake locks the wheel when the load must stay stationary. The unit is NSF-listed and ships as a single wheel assembly.
The 300 lb rating provides headroom for loaded shop carts, utility wagons and mobile benches on smooth concrete or epoxy floors. Polyurethane resists flat-spotting under static loads and rolls quietly over expansion joints. The side brake holds the wheel but does not lock the swivel race, so the caster can still pivot under side thrust. On rough gravel or deep carpet the smaller 5-inch diameter will transmit more vibration and require more push force.
Upgrading from rigid wheels or 3-inch and 4-inch swivel casters adds turning clearance and reduces push effort on loaded carts. The plate bolt pattern fits the same mounting holes used on many stock wheelbarrow and utility-cart frames. Buyers who need a total-lock brake that freezes both wheel and swivel, or who need a higher capacity for industrial dollies, should look for a different caster series.

The polyurethane tread is non-marking and designed for standard surfaces, so it should handle rough concrete better than hard steel wheels while protecting floors.
Press the side brake lever down firmly; the wheel should lock instantly and not rotate when you push the equipment. Release the lever and the wheel should spin freely again.
The caster ships as a single unit with the top plate attached; mounting bolts for your specific equipment are not included and must be purchased separately.
