What it is and who it suits

The Vaxcel Dorado T0487 is a single-light outdoor barn fixture finished in red and white. It fits covered porches, entryways and garages where a farmhouse-style dome is wanted. The built-in dusk-to-dawn photocell automates operation without a separate timer.

Thermals noise and power draw

The housing is weather-resistant steel rated for wet locations, so heat from the lamp dissipates into open air. No fan or active cooling is present, making the fixture silent in use. It accepts one 60-watt E26 medium-base bulb, LED compatible, so actual draw depends on the lamp chosen.

Build quality and daily implications

Open-bottom construction allows bulb changes without tools. The dark-sky compliant shade directs light downward, reducing upward glare for neighbours. ETL and cETL listings confirm the fixture meets North American safety standards for outdoor mounting.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the Vaxcel Dorado T0487 barn light and which step is often missed?

Secure the fixture to a junction box on a covered porch or garage wall, then connect the built-in dusk-to-dawn photocell wiring; the step most installers miss is verifying the photocell faces away from other light sources so it triggers correctly at night.

What maintenance will the Dorado T0487 need over time?

The open-bottom shade allows tool-free bulb changes; replace the E26 medium-base bulb up to 60 watts when it fails, and wipe the weather-resistant steel housing occasionally to keep the finish clean.

What limits the Dorado T0487 during continuous overnight operation?

The built-in photocell controls the on-off cycle, so the fixture runs only during darkness; the 60-watt maximum rating and ETL wet-location listing set the thermal and electrical limits for sustained use.
