7-Way Trailer Socket for Towing

This zinc-plated brass socket provides a 7-way connection for trailer, plow and towing equipment. It accepts No. 8 ring terminals for secure wiring. The component is designed for standard vehicle-to-trailer electrical interfaces. Builders and fleet technicians use it to replace worn or damaged connectors.

Practical limits of the 7-way interface

A 7-way socket carries the basic lighting and brake circuits required for most trailers. It does not support additional auxiliary power or data lines beyond the seven defined pins. Corrosion resistance depends on the zinc plating remaining intact. Users must match the vehicle wiring to the standard pin layout.

Zinc-plated brass contact material

The contacts are made from zinc-plated brass to conduct current while resisting oxidation. This material choice determines long-term reliability in road-salt and moisture exposure. Buyers who need stainless-steel or silver-alloy contacts for harsher environments should select a different part.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 7-way socket or a different configuration?

The 7-way socket matches trailers and plows that use a standard seven-pin connector, so select it when your vehicle wiring has seven circuits.

What does the 7-way connection mean once it is wired into my trailer?

It provides seven separate circuits — typically tail, brake, turn, auxiliary, ground, battery charge and reverse — all through one plug.

How does the zinc-plated brass contact material affect the connection?

Zinc-plated brass resists corrosion and maintains conductivity for reliable power transfer in outdoor towing conditions.
