Velvac 697287 Backup Alarm 87 dB

This Velvac backup alarm emits a fixed tonal signal at 87 dB for vehicle safety applications. It operates on 12V DC systems and draws 300 mA through multi-stranded wire leads. The unit carries an SAE Type C rating and includes a one-year manufacturer warranty.

Check 12V DC compatibility and grommet mounting

Verify that your vehicle electrical system supplies 12V DC and can accommodate the 300 mA current draw. Ensure a suitable grommet mounting location exists on the rear of the vehicle for the forward-facing speaker orientation. Confirm the 3 1/2 in length, 1 1/4 in width, and 2 3/4 in height fit the available space.

Glass-filled nylon housing with wire leads

The black glass/nylon housing resists impact and weather exposure in daily traffic use. Epoxy-coated internals protect the circuitry from moisture and vibration. Wire leads require a permanent splice or connector installation rather than a plug-in connection. The grommet mount secures the alarm through a panel hole for a clean, low-profile fit.

Questions about this item

What does the Velvac 697287 backup alarm include and is any wiring or mounting hardware sold separately?

The alarm ships as a single unit with wire leads already attached and a grommet mount moulded into the housing; no extra wiring loom or mounting kit is required.

How do I decide between the available versions of the Velvac 697287 alarm?

Only one version is offered — 87 dB output, 12 V DC operation, Type C SAE rating, forward-facing speaker, black glass-filled nylon housing — so there is no capacity or tone choice to make.

What does the 87 dB rating mean when the alarm is mounted on a working vehicle?

At 12 V DC the unit draws 300 mA and produces a fixed tonal signal at a constant 87 dB, meeting SAE Type C requirements for medium-duty reversing warning.
