Velvac 708441 Spot Mirror Overview

The Velvac 708441 is a round convex spot mirror designed for vehicle side mounting on both driver and passenger positions. It features an 8 1/2 in mirror diameter with stainless steel backing in a silver finish. This blind spot mirror is intended for commercial and fleet vehicles needing improved peripheral visibility.

Thermals Noise Power Draw

As a passive optical component with no heating element or motorised adjustment, the mirror draws no electrical power and generates no heat or operational noise. Its stainless steel construction resists corrosion and maintains reflective clarity across temperature variations. Installation relies on a centre mount design that integrates with existing mirror assemblies.

Upgrade Context

This mirror replaces damaged or missing OEM spot mirrors on compatible vehicle sides. The upgrade is worthwhile when the original unit is cracked, corroded or lost, restoring the intended blind spot coverage. It is not suited for applications requiring heated glass, power adjustment or interior mounting configurations.

Questions about this item

How is the Velvac 708441 spot mirror mounted to the vehicle?

The mirror uses a center-mount design that attaches through a single hole in the vehicle body or existing bracket. The step often missed is confirming the backing surface is flat and clean so the stainless-steel base seats evenly before tightening.

What maintenance does the convex mirror need over time?

The stainless-steel backing resists corrosion, so upkeep is limited to cleaning the glass with non-abrasive cleaner and checking the mounting hardware for tightness after vibration exposure.

What limits visibility first during extended highway driving?

The fixed 8 1/2 in convex glass provides a wide blind-spot view but cannot be adjusted remotely; the driver must set the angle manually before departure.
