A 24mm f/14 Probe Lens for L Mount

The Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 2X Macro Probe Lens is built for L Mount cameras and offers a unique wide-angle macro perspective. Its 24mm focal length combines with 2x magnification to reveal intricate details while showing extensive background context. The optical design uses 27 elements in 19 groups to minimise distortion and aberrations. A waterproof front barrel allows shooting in wet environments.

For macro photographers

This lens suits creators who want a 'Bug Eye' view with greater depth of field at close range than conventional telephoto macro lenses provide. It covers both 35mm full frame and Super35 sensors. Videographers should note this is not the cine-mod version with geared focus and aperture rings. Buyers needing autofocus or electronic aperture control will not find those features here.

Ring light powered by external USB source

A built-in LED ring light at the lens tip delivers even illumination for close-up work. The package includes a white USB cable with variable power adjustment and a black USB cable without adjustment. The LED requires an external battery pack, which is not supplied. Also included are a lens bag and a rugged aluminium carry case for transport.

Questions about this item

Which camera bodies accept the L-mount on this 24mm f/14 probe lens?

Any camera body with an L-mount bayonet — full-frame 35mm or Super35 sensors are both covered by the optical design.

Will the built-in ring light work with my existing USB power bank?

Yes — the LED ring light is powered through the included USB cables (one with variable output, one fixed), so any standard USB power bank can supply it.

How do I confirm the lens is delivering 2× magnification at the 20mm working distance?

Focus until the subject is 20mm from the front barrel; the image on your sensor will then be rendered at 2× life size, which you can verify by photographing a ruler.
