Emergency Evacuation Chair

The VEVOR EMS stair chair is a foldable aluminium and steel frame wheelchair built for manual evacuation on stairs. It supports a 350 lbs load capacity and rolls on two 5 inch directional rubber wheels. The design targets emergency responders, care facilities and anyone needing to move a person between floors when lifts are unavailable.

Build and Daily Handling

The frame combines aluminium alloy, steel and plastic while weighing 17.6 lbs. Folded dimensions are 36.2 x 20.9 x 7.1 in, expanding to 52.4 x 21.3 x 36 in when deployed. Calf, thigh and chest belts secure the occupant, and a telescopic front handle with a button switch adjusts length for different operators.

Upgrade Considerations

This chair replaces carrying a person manually or using a standard wheelchair that cannot negotiate steps. The jump is worth it when stair evacuation is a realistic scenario and a powered stair climber is not justified. It does not suit situations requiring motorised ascent or descent, nor environments where a tracked stair chair is mandated.
