Product Identity

This roll of hardware cloth measures 48 inches wide by 100 feet long and uses 19 gauge galvanized steel wire with a 0.5 inch mesh opening. It is intended for gardeners, small-animal keepers and property owners who need a durable barrier against rabbits, chickens or rodents.

Coating And Packaging

The hot-dipped galvanized coating protects the steel from rust and corrosion in outdoor conditions. The package contains a single roll weighing 24.4 kg, so the coating and weight together determine how the roll handles during unrolling and installation.

Installation Checks

Verify that the 48 inch width suits the fence line, cage frame or garden bed you plan to cover. Confirm that the 0.5 inch mesh will block the target animals without restricting necessary airflow or drainage. Ensure you have tools and fasteners compatible with 19 gauge wire and a means to support the 53.8 lb roll during setup.

Questions about this item

How often will the hot-dipped galvanized coating need to be reapplied to the 19 gauge steel wire?

The hot-dipped galvanized coating is a permanent factory finish on the 19 gauge steel wire and does not require reapplication under normal outdoor use.

What part of the 48in by 100ft roll reaches its load limit first when tensioned along the full length?

The 19 gauge galvanized steel wire at the 0.5in mesh openings will reach its tensile limit before the roll edges or selvedge under sustained tension.

Does the 24.4 kg roll generate noticeable heat or noise when left unrolled in direct sun all day?

The galvanized steel mesh is passive material; it produces no noise and only absorbs ambient heat without generating any of its own.
