19-inch rack blank panel

The Video Mount Products ER8B is an 8U blank panel designed for 19-inch equipment racks and wall cabinets. Its steel construction with a powder-coated black finish provides a clean, professional appearance while covering unused rack space. The panel mounts directly to standard EIA rack rails using the typical mounting holes.

8U rack height coverage

This panel occupies exactly 8 rack units, measuring 14 inches in overall height and 19 inches in overall width. The material depth is 1/8 inch, adding minimal protrusion inside the cabinet. It contains zero ports or cutouts, making it suitable for blocking airflow gaps or reserving space for future equipment installation.

Suited for standard 19-inch racks

Installers managing standard EIA-compliant racks or wall cabinets will find this panel fits the required dimensions. It is not intended for racks with non-standard widths, proprietary mounting patterns, or threaded-hole-only rails that lack the clearance for typical cage nuts or screws. Buyers needing vented panels, cable pass-throughs, or rack depths beyond the slim profile should consider other options.

Questions about this item

What does the 8U rating mean once the panel is installed in a 19-inch rack?

The panel occupies 14 inches of vertical rack space, which equals eight rack units, leaving no ports or openings in that section.

How does the EIA standard affect the panel’s fit in a standard rack?

EIA compliance guarantees the 19-inch width and hole pattern match industry-standard racks and wall cabinets.

What physical clearance is needed to mount this blank panel?

It requires a 19-inch wide rack opening and adds only 1/8 inch of depth, so it fits flush against the mounting rails.
