Ultra-short throw laser projector

The ViewSonic LS832WU is a WUXGA laser phosphor projector rated at 5000 ANSI lumens with a 0.253 throw ratio. It produces a 1920 x 1200 native image and supports display sizes from 80 to 170 inches. The light source is rated for up to 30000 hours of operation.

Verify mounting space and signal sources

This model needs only 0.17 to 0.66 metres of throw distance to fill a 100-inch screen from 28 cm away. Confirm that your installation surface allows ultra-short throw placement and that your source devices provide HDMI, USB or LAN connectivity. The unit operates on 100 to 240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz.

Suits signage and education installs

Organisations needing bright, large images in confined spaces with ambient light will benefit from the laser engine and 360-degree projection. Buyers who require portable operation, built-in battery power or wireless screen mirroring should look at alternative designs.

Questions about this item

Does the box include cables for connecting a laptop, or do I need to buy an HDMI lead separately?

The package contains the projector, a power cable, a remote control and a Quick Start Guide. An HDMI cable is not included and must be purchased separately.

Should I choose the 4500-lumen or 5000-lumen brightness figure for a brightly lit meeting room?

The manufacturer highlights 4500 Lumens while the specification sheet lists brightness above 3500 lumens and the product name states 5000 Lumens. For a well-lit room, plan around the higher 5000 ANSI lumens rating.

What does the 0.253 throw ratio mean for image size when the projector sits 28 cm from the wall?

At 28 cm distance the 0.253 throw ratio produces an image of about 100 inches diagonally. The projector can fill 80 to 170 inches by moving between 0.17 m and 0.66 m from the screen.
