Compact DLP projector for home viewing

The ViewSonic PJD5533w uses DLP technology with a native 1280 x 800 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio. It delivers 2800 ANSI lumens and a 15000:1 contrast ratio for bright, detailed images. Built-in speakers add convenient audio without extra hardware. Weighing 4.6 lbs, it suits table-top or ceiling setups in living rooms or bedrooms.

Brightness headroom and resolution limits

At 2800 lumens the projector handles moderate ambient light during movies or sports. In darker rooms the high contrast ratio improves shadow detail and black levels. The native 1280 x 800 panel accepts 1080p signals but downscales them, so fine 1080p detail is not fully resolved. Very bright daytime viewing will exceed the comfortable output range.

Connectivity and throw constraints

Inputs include HDMI, VGA, composite RCA, S-Video, USB and RS-232 for varied source devices. The medium throw ratio requires a reasonable distance to fill a large screen, limiting use in very small rooms. No wireless or network interface is present, so mobile streaming needs a wired adapter. 3D content requires compatible active-shutter glasses and a 3D-capable source.

Questions about this item

Will the PJD5533w connect to my older laptop that only has VGA and S-Video outputs?

Yes, the projector includes a VGA/SVGA D-Sub port and an S-Video input, so you can connect legacy laptops directly without adapters.

How can I verify the 2800 ANSI lumen brightness is performing correctly after installation?

Display a full-white test pattern in a darkened room; the image should appear vivid and detailed at 1280 x 800 native resolution with the 15,000:1 contrast ratio rendering deep blacks.

Does the box include an HDMI cable and remote, or must I purchase them separately?

The bundle ships with a power cable, an HDMI cable and a remote control, so no extra accessories are required for basic operation.
