Portable 16-inch 144Hz gaming monitor

The ViewSonic VX1654 is a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display built for gaming on the move. Its 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync support deliver smooth, tear-free motion in fast-paced titles. The anti-glare panel keeps reflections down in bright environments. At just 1.5 lbs and a .6-inch profile, it slips into a backpack alongside a laptop or console.

Two USB-C ports with 60W two-way power

Connectivity centres on two USB Type-C ports that carry video, audio, data and up to 60W of power delivery in either direction. A single cable can drive the screen while charging a connected laptop or handheld. A mini HDMI input adds compatibility with consoles and older graphics outputs. A 3.5 mm audio jack lets you plug in headphones without routing cables back to the source device.

1920x1080 resolution at 144Hz

The 16.7 million-colour IPS panel covers the standard sRGB gamut at a 16:9 aspect ratio. Static contrast sits at 800:1 and peak brightness reaches 250 cd/m², adequate for indoor gaming and productivity. The 6 ms response time keeps ghosting low at 144Hz. In direct sunlight or high-contrast HDR scenes the limited brightness and contrast become the limiting factors.

Questions about this item

Does the monitor need a separate power brick or can it run from a laptop USB-C port?

It draws power over USB-C with up to 60W two-way delivery, so a laptop port that supplies enough current can run it without an extra adapter.

Will it work with a console that only has full-size HDMI?

The monitor has a mini HDMI port; you will need a mini HDMI to HDMI cable or adapter to connect a standard console.

How stable is the built-in stand for landscape and portrait use?

The cover folds into a stand that supports both orientations on a flat surface.
