Outdoor speakerphone with weather protection

The Viking E-20B-EWP is a hands-free speakerphone built for outdoor installations where precipitation or condensation are present. It shares the feature set of the E-10A and E-20B models while adding Enhanced Weather Protection for reliable operation in exposed locations. The unit is suited for entry points, loading docks and similar environments.

Foam gaskets and sealed electronics

Enhanced Weather Protection adds foam rubber gaskets and boots plus sealed connections throughout. Gel-filled butt connectors and urethane or thermal plastic potted circuit boards protect the internal electronics from moisture ingress. Internally sealed trim pots and DIP switches allow on-site programming without breaking the weather seal.

EWP rating for exposed mounting

The single specification that decides fit is the Enhanced Weather Protection rating for outdoor installations where the unit is exposed to precipitation or condensation. Buyers who need a speakerphone for indoor-only use do not require this level of sealing.

Questions about this item

How often should the gel-filled butt connectors and foam rubber gaskets be inspected on the Viking E-20B-EWP speakerphone?

The gel-filled butt connectors and foam rubber gaskets are sealed for Enhanced Weather Protection and do not require routine inspection; only check them if physical damage or water ingress is suspected.

What is the first limit reached when the speakerphone operates continuously in an outdoor environment?

The first limit is typically the thermal boundary of the urethane-potted circuit board, which can overheat if ambient temperature exceeds the sealed enclosure's dissipation capacity.

Does the Viking E-20B-EWP produce audible fan noise or significant heat during all-day operation?

The unit has no fan and relies on passive cooling through the sealed, potted electronics; it runs silently and generates only minimal warmth under normal use.
