Custom Tray Conversion Kit

This clamp and rail set lets you turn a personal wooden board into an under-desk sliding keyboard tray. It suits anyone who wants a lower typing surface without buying a pre-made tray. The hardware arrives ready to assemble and includes all mounting pieces. Two units are supplied so you can equip a wide surface or two separate desks.

Tray Thickness and Desk Clearance

Your wooden tray must be at least .6 thick and 10.5 wide while weighing no more than 11 lbs. The desk surface cannot exceed 1.75 thick because the thicker the tray the thinner the desk must be to keep enough height clearance. The slider track measures 12.5 long and the mounted tray will sit between 1.5 and 5.75 below the desk.

Clamp Installation and Fit Checks

C-clamps tighten by hand and anti-skid pads protect the desktop from scratches. Brackets offer 2.4 of total height adjustment across five set points spaced .6 apart. Verify desk thickness before purchase because exceeding the limit prevents the clamps from closing. Ensure the tray meets the minimum width and thickness so the brackets grip securely.

Questions about this item

How does the 11 lb weight limit translate when the tray is fully extended?

The 11 lb capacity covers the custom wood tray plus everything resting on it — keyboard, mouse and accessories — while the rails are fully extended.

What does the 12.5 inch slider track length cap in practice?

The 12.5 inch track limits how far the tray can travel outward from the desk edge; the tray cannot extend beyond that length.

What desk thickness range do the C-clamps accept for a secure mount?

The C-clamps fit desktops from 0.5 to 1.75 inches thick; thicker trays need thinner desktops to keep enough height clearance.
