Heavy-Duty 16-Inch Cash Drawer

The Volcora CD-5B-R is a 16-inch cash register built with heavy-gauge steel and a black matte finish for durable commercial use. It features a fully removable two-tier cash tray with five bill slots and eight coin slots, designed for secure and flexible cash handling. The stainless steel money clips and independent coin compartment support organised counting. This unit suits retail and hospitality environments needing a robust drawer.

Removable Tray and Connectivity Benefits

The bill tray and coin compartment remove independently, allowing staff to count or transport cash without moving the entire drawer. Two media slots provide storage for large bills, cheques, or receipts without opening the main compartment. An included RJ11/RJ12 cable connects the drawer to compatible POS systems and thermal printers from brands such as Star, Citizen, JAY, and Bixolon. The 24VDC micro-switch enables automatic opening via the printer or POS.

Installation and Common Issues

The drawer connects through a standard RJ11/RJ12 drawer-kick interface, so setup involves plugging the supplied cable into the receipt printer or POS terminal. The three-position key lock offers manual open, automatic open, and locked modes, with four keys supplied for backup. Buyers who need a different coin or bill configuration, or a drawer without a printer-driven interface, should verify their requirements before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the 5 bill and 8 coin compartments need any lubrication or spring replacement over time?

The fully removable two-tier tray is built from heavy-gauge steel and operates mechanically, so no scheduled lubrication or spring changes are required.

What stops the drawer from opening continuously during a long trading day?

The micro-switch and 24 VDC drawer-kick circuit only fire when the POS printer sends a signal, preventing unintended cycles.

Does the unit generate noticeable heat or fan noise when left powered on all day?

There is no fan or active cooling; the drawer only draws 24 VDC momentarily during each kick, so it stays silent and cool.
