What this headset is

The Realitex VR headset is a smartphone-powered viewer that holds an iPhone or Android handset and uses its screen for 3-D content. It weighs 0.445 kg and measures 10.414 in by 13.97 in by 19.558 in, making it light enough for children to wear comfortably. A bundled Android remote adds basic navigation without touching the phone. The package also includes a beginner tutorial link and a selection of starter VR apps and videos.

Who it suits and who it does not

It suits families wanting an inexpensive first VR device for children and casual users who already own a compatible smartphone. Buyers who want positional tracking, built-in displays, or PC-tethered performance should look elsewhere because the headset relies entirely on the phone’s sensors and screen. Users needing prescription lens inserts or advanced audio will not find those features here.

Installation and common issues

Setup consists of sliding the phone into the front clamp, launching a VR app, and pairing the remote via the phone’s standard Bluetooth menu. The most common problem is poor alignment causing blurry images; adjusting the lens spacing and phone position usually fixes it. Some larger phones may not fit the clamp, and the remote only works with Android handsets, leaving iPhone owners to use on-screen controls.
