What this switcher does

This Vszerda unit combines a three-port HDMI 2.0 switcher with a single RCA-to-HDMI converter. It accepts three HDMI sources and one composite video source, then sends the selected signal to two HDMI displays simultaneously. The HDMI inputs support 4K at 60 Hz with 18 Gbps bandwidth. The AV input handles legacy consoles such as N64, Wii, PS2 and older DVD players, with a 4:3 and 16:9 aspect-ratio switch. It is aimed at users who need to connect both modern and retro gear to a TV or projector that has limited HDMI ports.

Installation and common issues

The device is plug-and-play with no drivers required. Connect the HDMI and RCA cables, power the unit, and use the included remote or front button to switch sources. A key constraint: to achieve 4K at 60 Hz the combined length of the input and output HDMI cables must stay within 10 feet. Longer runs may drop the signal to a lower resolution or cause handshake failures. The aluminium enclosure aids heat dissipation, but the unit still needs free air space around its 6.5 by 2.5 by .8 inch frame.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This switcher suits anyone consolidating a retro console, a streaming stick, a modern console and a PC onto two displays without swapping cables. It also suits installers who need simultaneous output to a TV and a projector. Buyers who need more than three HDMI inputs, or who require audio extraction, HDR pass-through, or automatic switching based on power state, should look at a different product. The single RCA input also limits users with multiple composite or S-Video sources.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the switcher is passing 4K at 60 Hz after connecting my sources?

Check the display's on-screen information for a 4K@60Hz signal; keep the combined input and output HDMI cable length within 10 feet to maintain the 18 Gbps bandwidth needed for that rate.

Which cables and accessories are included versus what I must provide?

The unit itself is included; you must supply all HDMI cables for the three HDMI 2.0 inputs and two HDMI outputs, plus the RCA composite cable for the AV input and a power adapter if the USB port requires external power.

Should I choose this model over a version with fewer HDMI inputs?

Select this model when you need three HDMI 2.0 sources and one RCA composite source switched to two simultaneous HDMI displays; a smaller version would not provide the extra HDMI ports or the AV conversion.
