Vszerda 8265HMW Mini PCI-E Wireless Card

The Vszerda 8265HMW is a Mini PCI-E network adapter that adds WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 to compatible laptops or small-form-factor systems. It operates on dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies with a 2x2 antenna configuration. The module supports a maximum wireless link rate of 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band. It is designed for users upgrading internal wireless connectivity where a Mini PCI-E slot is available.

Bundled antennas enable dual-band reception

The card ships with two external antennas that attach to the onboard U.FL connectors to realise the stated 2x2 performance. Without them the adapter cannot achieve the 867 Mbps or 300 Mbps link rates quoted for the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands respectively. Bluetooth 4.2 functionality also relies on the same antenna path for peripheral pairing. No driver disc or software utility is included; the operating system must provide or download the appropriate Intel 8265 driver package.

Questions about this item

Will the 8265HMW's 2x2 MIMO antenna connectors need replacement over time?

The 8265HMW uses standard U.FL antenna connectors on the Mini PCI-E card; they are passive components and do not wear out, so no scheduled replacement is required.

What limits sustained throughput on the 5 GHz band at 867 Mbps?

The 802.11ac 2x2 link caps at 867 Mbps; real-world sustained rates are limited by channel congestion, client distance and the 5 GHz band's shorter range versus 2.4 GHz.
