8K 30Hz DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter

This passive adapter connects a DisplayPort 1.4 source to an HDMI 2.1 display. It supports 8K resolution at 30 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz. The Synaptics 6100 chip handles unidirectional video and audio conversion. It is built for users adding an 8K monitor or projector to a compatible graphics card or laptop.

Passive Design and Signal Integrity

The adapter draws power directly from the DisplayPort output without an external supply. Passive operation keeps the chain silent and adds no heat to the build. Signal conversion stops at the adapter so the display receives a native HDMI 2.1 stream. HDR passes through when both source and sink support it.

Direct DP-to-HDMI Link for Single Displays

The male DisplayPort plug fits GPU ports on AMD and NVIDIA cards plus laptops from HP, Lenovo and Dell. The female HDMI port accepts standard cables to TVs, monitors, projectors or VR headsets. It does not function through a hub or dock and cannot convert HDMI sources to DisplayPort inputs.

Questions about this item

How do I install the DP 1.4 male-to-HDMI 2.1 female adapter without reversing the signal direction?

Plug the DisplayPort 1.4 male end into the source device and the HDMI 2.1 female end into the display; the adapter is uni-directional and will not work if connected backwards.

Will the Synaptics 6100 chip inside the adapter ever need a firmware update or replacement?

The Synaptics 6100 chip is a fixed-function passive converter with no user-updatable firmware and no moving parts, so it requires no maintenance or scheduled replacement.

At 8K 7680×4320 resolution, what refresh-rate ceiling will I hit first during long gaming sessions?

The adapter’s specified maximum is 30 Hz at 8K 7680×4320, so sustained use at that resolution is capped at 30 Hz regardless of session length.
