This Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 cable connects a laptop or desktop with a Mini DisplayPort output to a monitor that has a full-size DisplayPort input. It supports 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz, 2K at 240 Hz and 1080P at 240 Hz with 32.4 Gbps HBR3 bandwidth for video and multi-channel audio. The 6.6 ft length suits typical desk setups. It works with MacBook, iMac and Mac Mini models that have Thunderbolt 1 or 2 ports used for video output only.

Bandwidth and resolution limits of DP 1.4

The cable complies with the VESA DP 1.4 standard and delivers up to 32.4 Gbps HBR3 bandwidth. That ceiling defines the maximum resolutions and refresh rates listed above. Thunderbolt 2 displays are not supported, and Thunderbolt 3 ports with a Thunderbolt 2 adapter are also not supported. The link is bidirectional, so either end can act as the source, but the host must provide a native Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 1/2 video signal.

Check your ports and direction before buying

Verify that your source device has a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 1/2 port that outputs video. The cable cannot drive a Thunderbolt 2 display or a Thunderbolt 3 port via an adapter. MacBook Air, Pro, iMac or Mac Mini can serve only as the output source; they cannot function as an external monitor through this cable. Ensure the display accepts a standard DisplayPort input, not a Thunderbolt-only input.
