Converts an HDMI source to a VGA display with 3.5 mm audio output, supporting 1920x1080 at 60 Hz and lower resolutions
This compact media converter translates a digital HDMI signal into analogue VGA output while preserving sound through a 3.5 mm jack. It targets users who need to connect modern laptops, desktops, tablets or single-board computers to legacy monitors, projectors or HDTVs that only accept VGA input. The plug-and-play design requires no driver installation and draws power from the HDMI port, with an optional micro USB socket for devices that supply limited current.
Verify that the sending equipment has a standard HDMI male port and that the display accepts a VGA female connection. The adapter does not work in reverse and cannot drive a VGA source into an HDMI screen. Maximum supported resolution is 1920x1080 at 60 Hz, with 1280x1024 and 1280x720 also available; do not configure the source for higher modes. Several popular devices are explicitly unsupported, including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Apple TV, MacBook Pro, Mac mini and certain Samsung televisions.
The converter adds a 3.5 mm audio output so speakers or headphones can be attached without relying on the display's own audio hardware. Its built-in IC chip handles the digital-to-analogue translation without software, freeing the host from driver overhead. The rugged HDMI connector resists corrosion and wear for reliable insertion cycles. Because the micro USB power input is optional, most setups operate from the HDMI bus alone, leaving the USB port free for other peripherals.
