OCuLink SFF-8611 4i to SFF-8643 active cable
This 50 cm active cable bridges an OCuLink SFF-8611 4i controller to a backplane or enclosure with an SFF-8643 connector. It targets builders adding external GPU or SSD links where a native OCuLink port is available. The cable is not compatible with SFF-8643 slimline SAS RAID cards.
Active latch and PCIe 4.0 signalling
The active latch secures each end without thumb screws, so installation is a simple push until it clicks. Route the 50 cm length carefully; sharp bends near the connector housings can stress the active circuitry and cause link errors. A free OCuLink interface on the host side is the only system requirement.
64 Gbps shielding with 8 Gbps lane rate
Each of the four lanes runs at up to 8 Gbps under PCIe 4.0, giving aggregate bandwidth suited to modern GPUs and high-speed SSDs. The 64 Gbps shielding rating provides headroom for signal integrity at full speed. Runs longer than 50 cm or passive alternatives would be needed for greater reach.

Questions about this item
How do I confirm the active cable is functioning after connecting an SFF-8611 controller to an SFF-8643 backplane?
Verify the active latch clicks securely into both connectors and check that the host system detects the attached drives or eGPU at the expected PCIe 4.0 link speed.
What does the package contain and what extra parts are needed for a typical eGPU or SSD setup?
The box includes the 50 cm active cable with SFF-8611 4i and SFF-8643 male ends; you must supply a controller with a free OCuLink SFF-8611 port and a backplane or device with an SFF-8643 connector.
Which version should I choose if my controller uses an SFF-8611 4i port and my backplane uses SFF-8643?
Select this SFF-8611 4i to SFF-8643 active cable; it is built for PCIe 4.0 links up to 64 Gbps and will not work with SFF-8643 SAS RAID cards.
