PCIe x1 Gigabit Ethernet adapter for desktop PCs

This Vszerda network card adds a wired RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port to a desktop computer through a PCI Express x1 slot. It uses the RTL8111H chip and supports 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps speeds. The card is intended for users who need a reliable wired connection or an additional LAN port.

Requires a free PCI Express x1 slot

The adapter fits a standard PCIe x1 expansion slot on the motherboard. It will not work in systems that lack an available PCIe x1 slot, such as laptops, small form factor PCs without that slot, or devices that only offer M.2 or USB connectivity. Buyers needing a USB or M.2 Ethernet solution should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What does the 10/100/1000Mbps rating mean when the card is installed in a desktop PC?

The card negotiates at 10, 100 or 1000 megabits per second depending on the switch or router it is connected to, giving full gigabit throughput when the network supports it.

How does the PCI Express X1 interface affect the maximum speed of the RTL8111H chip?

A single PCIe lane provides more than enough bandwidth for the gigabit Ethernet controller, so the X1 slot does not limit the 1000Mbps link rate.
