Adds two SATA 3.0 ports via PCIe x1 with ASM1061 controller and low-profile bracket
This Vszerda add-on card fits a PCI-Express x1 slot and provides two SATA 3.0 connectors for SSDs or HDDs. It runs at up to 6.0 Gbps and is backward compatible with 3.0 Gbps and 1.5 Gbps drives. The ASM1061 controller supports AHCI 1.0 and IDE modes. A low-profile bracket is included for small-form-factor cases.
The card adds two 6.0 Gbps ports to a motherboard that has no free SATA headers or only older 1.5 Gbps connectors. It is worth fitting when you need extra internal drives but have no M.2 slots or when the existing controller lacks AHCI 1.0 support. The jump makes sense if you are moving from IDE mode or a single-port add-on card.
Verify the system has a free PCI-Express x1, x2, x4, x8 or x16 slot and that the operating system is Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, Server 2003, Mac or Linux. No additional power connector is required. Buyers who need more than two drives or bootable RAID arrays should look elsewhere.

Yes, the package includes a low-profile bracket and a screw so the card can be mounted in a slim case.
Insert the card into any free PCI-Express x1 slot (x2, x4, x8 or x16 also work), secure it with the supplied screw, connect up to two SATA drives, then install the AHCI driver in Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, Server 2003, Mac or Linux; the step many miss is loading that driver before the drives appear.
The card itself has no moving parts and requires no scheduled maintenance; only the attached SATA drives may need replacement if they fail.
